We are offering a small vineyard with Adega close to Madalena town on Pico. This is as traditional as it comes. A plot and Adega, a building used to make wine, frozen in time.
Pico is famous for its vineyards with tiny walls around almost every vine to protect it from the winds. In this area the focus is on traditional grapes used to make fortified wines, the vines are very old. More info on wine on Pico can be found following this link . This is one of the nicest spots and one of the earliest places where wines were made on the island. Just building all the stone walls must have taken years of back breaking work.
This is your chance to own one of those traditional small vineyards. You could apply to build a house at the end of the plot but it will be a process that has to be submitted officially. Owner had permission to destroy the entire vineyard but this would be quite a loss for the island. There is a revival of traditional Pico wines underway but the grapes planted now are modern varieties. It is to be seen if these new vines can weather the climate and soil conditions on the island. The vines on this plot have proven to be excellent for hundreds of years.
The views on Faial and the ocean are stunning from this location and with Madalena so close by it is an ideal location on the island.
This property consists of two registrations. One for the Adega (75 m²) which is considered urban land and one for the vineyard which is rústico land (terra de mato)
